Smart Scout?
So there’s been this story in the news about this Scout who survived 4 days in the mountains of Nevada before being rescued. They say he survived because he stayed on the path. The reason they couldn’t find him is because he had been told to never talk to strangers and so he hid anytime a search party went by.
Now correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this the epitome of not being smart? Blindly following directions is not smart. Smart would have been realizing that you were hungry and freezing to death and that there were many animals unfriendly to small humans, and that perhaps you should ask even a stranger for assistance, as the chance of dying from exposure to the elements or large animals has exceeded the chance of encountering a child molester. If that’s what passes for “smarts” these days I pray my kids are dumb.
