So it has been found that Jose Padilla, a U.S. citizen can not be held without a trial. It will surely go to appeal, but I have to say I’m really optimistic that for the first time in a long time it appears that the ideals of our Democracy are going to triumph over the fascists in the white house. This is the case that made me originally start writing “Scaping the Goat”. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end of their roughshod ride over the rights of the U.S. citizen. Perhaps this could even be turned around to make the White House criminally libel for kidnapping a U.S. citizen. Oh… that’s probably going too far, we could never arrest a president for crimes against his own citizens…
